SR Home Improvements is a General Contractor company that works in new additions, garages, new build outs, new kitchens, new bathrooms, new basements, and all types of construction projects, that involve multiple trades. Such as home additions, basement remodeling, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, floor installation, electrical work and HVAC systems and everything related to new build outs and remodeling.

As a class A General Contractor (often referred to as a GC) we are approved to do all types of work in Virginia. We Also have master electrician license to do all type of electrical work, our office coordinates all of the permits and licenses needed for all of the jobs that require a permit. Keep in mind that not all General Contractors are equal, and not all GC’s can perform all work, or have all of the area of expertise in all trades. Therefore, we use subcontractors for the job that requires other types of work and expertise such as HVAC and plumbing. Our company work with great subcontractors that are properly licensed and insured to make sure that every job is completed with perfection and in a timely manner.

WHAT IS A SUBCONTRACTOR?

In order to further understand what a General Contractor does, it’s important to understand what Subcontractors are and what they do. A Subcontractor is an entity that specializes in a particular trade (ie. carpentry, cement, drywall, painting, flooring, HVAC, etc.). Subcontractors usually supply the manual labor and sometime have more men on the ground per project than the General Contractor, where the General Contractor has a smaller team on site and a large team working behind the scenes, both in the field and in the office, coordinating and working behind the scenes to make sure every job runs smoothly and perfectly.

If you’re planning a complete home remodel, or if you’re building a new home altogether, unless you have General Contracting experience or trade specific experience, you’ll likely need a General Contractor to coordinate and oversee your construction project to ensure it gets completed on time, in the correct order, to pass all city specs and other relevant codes and specs etc.

  The Team from SR Home improvements was exceptional from start to finish. They came in  a fair estimate, were upfront about timing and availability and were very responsive leading up to the project.

The entire crew was very professional - worked diligently and did an amazing job fixing up our basement after we had a flood and water damage.

We will absolutely be using them again for other major and small projects.
